The Photon Pump V8, 2000. The light that started everyday carry.

The EDC flashlight that started it all

Recognize it? If you've owned a keychain light in the last twenty years, there's a good chance it was this one, or something built to look like it.

Back in 2000, twin brothers Rainer and Harald Opolka built a light small enough to live on a keyring and bright enough to make people do a double take. That was the Photon Pump V8, and it's the reason "everyday carry flashlight" is a category at all.

That's who we are. A direct lineage from the two engineers in a workshop who cared more about the beam, the runtime and the build than anything else. Every light on this page comes from that same standard, and every one of them improves on the original where it counts. Brighter, rechargeable, and built to be the last EDC flashlight you have to buy.

Built to standard

We back all of our products with a 7 year warranty. Plus, with a focusing lens that goes from flood to spot with one hand, honest runtimes, and a body that survives being dropped, rained on and forgotten in a truck door for a year, you can rest assured that the EDC flashlight you're looking for lives on this list.

1In your pocket

P3R

If you're looking for an EDC flashlight that lives in your pocket, this is the one. At 41 grams it rides in a front pocket like a pen, and the second you need it you've got 200 lumens reaching 130 meters.

Twist the head and the beam goes from a wide flood that fills a room to a tight spot at the far end of the yard, one handed. It charges off the same USB-C cable as your phone, it's sealed against dust and rain, and it's rated 4.9 stars by the people who carry one every day.

2On your keys

K4R

If you're looking for a light that lives on your keychain and you never have to think about, this is it. At 20 grams it's lighter than a AA battery, so it disappears next to your house key.

Perfect for seeing the keyhole in the dark, the phone that slid under the car seat, or the walk from the driveway to the front door. 120 lumens covers all of it, and it recharges over USB, so you're never hunting for a coin cell battery again. It's the closest thing we make to the original.

3On your keys, with an alarm

K6R Safety

If you're looking for a keychain light that doubles as a safety device, this is the one. 400 lumens out of 32 grams, with a strobe and a 100 decibel alarm on a pull pin.

Pull the pin and it's loud enough to turn every head in a parking lot. This is the one people buy when they need both light and an extra layer of safety. Clip it to a bag or a keyring and it's there every time you walk to your car after dark, with 80 meters of reach and eight hours of runtime behind it.

4In your bag or truck

MT10

If you're looking for the most light you can carry in a bag or a truck door, this is it. 1,000 lumens is your whole backyard lit up. It's the breaker box in a pitch black basement. And it comes out of something that still fits in a jacket pocket.

A 3,200 mAh battery makes that possible. Turn it down to low and it runs for 144 hours, so a week in the woods or a week in the truck isn't something you plan around. Our best reviewed light on this page.

5Out after dark

P6R Core QC

If you're looking for reach and beam colors, this is the one. The longest throw on this page, and four colors in one head, for the people whose everyday includes the woods, the water, or a night shift.

Red keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark so you can read a map and still see when you look up. Green and blue are what people use for tracking and spotting on the water. On low it holds a beam for 110 hours.
